Night at the Austin Museum

by admin on August 17, 2011

Museums are commonly open during the day and close by 5pm in the afternoon. With these schedules, people who are at work during the day shift will have no more time to immerse themselves in the rich culture and history that is showcased inside these wonderful places. It’s good to know then that Austin nightlife is not all about clubbing and dining as there are a few museums that open their doors at night for some evening viewing.

Families with children need not wait for the weekends to go to the Austin’s Children Museum. When kids arrive home from school, parents can take them straight to a wonderful tour inside this museum and gain some innovative learning through interactive exhibits and science demonstrations. This is so for the Austin Children’s Museum offer museum hours until 8pm every Wednesday. Kids can tour the place to their heart’s content and have a fun learning experience. For the rest of the week, this place is open until 5pm only.

Another museum that closes late for nighttime viewing is the Blanton Museum of Art. Every third Thursday of the month, it closes until 9pm. What’s great about this is that the admission during this day is also free. The Blanton Museum of Art is a great place to visit as its collection comprises of more than 17,000 works of arts. The artworks date back from 14th to 20th century. This place is located at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Congress Avenue. On regular days, it closes by 5pm, too.
